I'm a registered Clinical Psychologist, Chartered with the British Psychological Society providing online and in-person therapy for adult individuals and couples both internationally and within the United Kingdom.
I have worked with the National Health Service for over 17 years, specialising in the psychological therapy for persons with severe mental illness, such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. My work with people affected by psychosis and mania has given me a deep understanding of anxiety, depression and anger which are core features of severe mental illness. I have also worked extensively with partners and families of those affected by depression, mania and psychosis.
I help people develop parts of themselves that have been affected by stress and trauma, to learn to observe themselves and articulate and emotionally process their experiences. I may draw on a variety of techniques to support this, within an overall psychodynamic developmental framework. My priority is to attend to what a person brings to the therapeutic space and for me to function as a thoughtful emotionally contained companion in helping them make sense of their internal and interpersonal experience.
Through working with couples I have developed a deeper familiarity with the way we hold important relationships within our minds and how these shape our relationship with ourselves and others. I support couples to work through the expectations and assumptions they hold that prevent them from seeing themselves and each other clearly and prevents them from developing as a couple, to work out what kind of couple they want to be and can tolerate being.
