As practicing clinicians, we are often confronted with the myth that psychoanalytic approaches have no research support.  This one-day distance learning course is designed for child and adult therapists and analysts who wish to inform their work with adults by better understanding childhood issues.  All sessions include research-based clinical applications to inform and guide our practice, presented via lively clinical vignettes.

The day begins with an exploration of current research findings, psychoanalytic perspectives, and practice guidelines for treating suicidal youth.  Next, we discuss common therapeutic challenges providing online treatment for children during COVID.  In the afternoon, we feature discussion of an evidence-based treatment, Regulation Focused Psychotherapy for children with externalizing problems (RFP-C). The day finishes with a close-up look at child analysis with an 11-year-old boy suffering early loss of a parent and presentation of an intervention for attachment-at-risk parent-infant pairings through the Minding the Baby program.
