Brief Description
The China Child course is an online course, with 60 three-hour sessions weekly over 2 years, devoted to the theory and technique of competent analytic psychotherapy with children and adolescents. Each time the class meets, the first one and a half hours is devoted to a reading seminar with group discussion, and the second one and a half hours is a small group consultation on ethical clinical technique with children and parents.

Program Components
Format
At each meeting, there will be a combination of theory and clinical technique with children or adolescents, followed by group discussion. Participants and the IPI child faculty teacher will share vignettes from clinical practice or professional situations and connect them to the theory that has been presented. Comments, questions, and conversation are encouraged. For each class participants will be given one reading that they are expected to review and comment on in class.
Introductory online immersion course
The course begins with a daily immersion course from June 23- 27, 8:00 pm–11:00 pm, prior to the regular weekly online course

Weekly Online
The regular weekly online course beginning on Thursday July 9, comprises 1.5 hours on Theory and Technique of Psychoanalytic Child Psychotherapy and 1.5 hours of group consultation on Ethical Clinical Technique in child cases related to the topic under discussion in the reading seminar.
In first year, the theory courses are The Child Psychotherapist at Work, Technique of Assessment and Child Therapy, Psychoanalytic Theory of Childhood and Adolescence, and Group Consultation to Intermediate Ethical Clinical Technique
In second year, the theory courses are Child and Adolescent Development, Wellness and Psychopathology of Childhood and Adolescence, Special Topics including Research and Writing, and Group Consultation to Advanced Ethical Clinical Technique
每周上课安排
1）每周1次授课（每次90分钟）：zoom直播，线上IPI教师全英文授课，配中文翻译，初步安排在每周四晚8:00-9:30；
2）每周1次临床案例讨论（每次90分钟）：zoom直播，分小组进行，每组人数8-15人，由老师带领进行团体临床案例技术讨论，全程配中文翻译，初步安排在每周四晚9:30-11:00.
2年的训练分为6大模块。第一年主要学习儿童青少年心理治疗概论、儿童青少年心理治疗实践技术以及儿童青少年精神分析理论；
第二年学习儿童青少年心理发展、儿童青少年精神病理学以及儿童青少年心理健康特殊议题。
5-days On-Site
Once the course is established online, there will be an on-site 5-day immersion in Basic Theory and Technique of Psychoanalytic Child Psychotherapy with lectures, videos, clinical case presentations, and group discussion.
地面工作坊
培训课程开课后，共将安排2次地面工作坊，每次工作坊持续5天，将由IPI的老师带领大家进行理论和技术的深化体验学习，包括理论深化、小组研讨、技术练习，团体临床案例讨论等，具体时间待定。
Evaluation
Students will be asked to complete Survey Monkey evaluation of each class in terms of learning objectives, quality of the reading selected, teacher’s knowledge, ability to clarify concepts and facilitate group discussion. These results will be collated and used to inform the evolution of the course.

Continuing Education Credit Hours
Chinese therapists who work in the United States may claim approximately 200 contact hours over the two years of the course.
Continuing Education Information
The International Psychotherapy Institute, IPI, is approved by The American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. IPI maintains responsibility for the program and its content. The International Psychotherapy Institute has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6017. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are clearly identified. The International Psychotherapy Institute is responsible for all aspects of the programs. The International Psychotherapy Institute is authorized by the Board of Social Work Examiners in Maryland to sponsor social work continuing education learning activities and maintains full responsibility for this program. This training qualifies for Category I continuing education units.
