Master Speaker Series
May 9 @ 9:00 am – 11:00 am
The intersection of the body and contemporary culture
Treating psychosomatic symptomatology and illness has long been among the most challenging frontiers in psychoanalysis. This year’s Master Speaker Seminars follow the theme of “The Body in Contemporary Culture”, featuring presentations on psychoanalytic understanding of the mind-body connection, cultural uses of psychosomatic language, and psychosomatic conditions that challenge psychoanalytic understanding and technique. We consider a wide range of conditions, from skin symptomatology to eating disorders, cosmetic surgery and its relationship to hatred of the body, secrets held in the language of the body, and the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and the mind-body connection. Our program gathers international eminent presenters with career-long immersion in these issues, and who bring their breadth of experience and understanding to this outstanding series.
